Artist Statement
Andrea Kantrowitz is an accomplished artist with a contemporary edge. Her illustrations have appeared in numerous children's books, and her paintings have been exhibited from coast to coast. Her work, in oil on canvas, includes landscapes, still lifes and portraits. Her current specialty is family portraiture. She does not just paint a pose but instead captures real life moments, gestures and mannerisms that show the emotional bonds between her subjects. Her fluid and vibrant portraits convey the essence of modern family life. Andrea is a Harvard graduate with a Masters of Fine Arts in Painting from Yale. A former professor of art at the University of Wisconsin, she has taught drawing and painting for over twenty years to students of all ages.
