The Ossining Public Library will host acclaimed writer Nicholas Lemann on Tuesday, October 22nd, to discuss his new book Transaction Man: The Rise of the Deal and the Decline of the American Dream. Mr. Lemann, the Joseph Pulitzer II and Edith Pulitzer Moore Professor of Journalism and Dean Emeritus at Columbia University, will appear at the library as part of the library’s Bob Minzesheimer Author Series, a benefit series held in honor of the late library trustee Bob Minzesheimer, a longtime book critic and journalist.

Mr. Lemann is a staff writer for The New Yorker and Transaction Man, which was released on September 10th, is a timely and incisive look at American wealth and social inequality. “I am thrilled to welcome writer Nicholas Lemann,” says library director Karen LaRocca-Fels. “I believe this will be an incredibly educational and thought-provoking night for the Ossining community”.

Transaction Man follows three remarkable American figures, who each contributed to the defining financial moments of their era, and tracks a working-class Chicago neighborhood as it responds to these financial moments. Insightful and compelling, author David M. Kennedy calls it “brilliant, essential, and rollicking”. The discussion will be moderated Robert T. Garrett, Austin Bureau Chief of the Dalls Morning News and copies of the book will be available courtesy of Pleasantville’s Village Bookstore. Tickets to attend the event are $10 and tickets to attend the event and receive a copy of the book are $30. All tickets are available to purchase at nicholaslemann.brownpapertickets.com; proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Ossining Public Library.
