Through May 12: Exhibition Showcases Two Mixed-Media Artists
Chroma Fine Gallery presents Ripples, an exhibition by mixed-media artists Angela Rustici and Mitchell Visoky. Rustici’s works are made using a technique called encaustic painting, which utilizes hot, pigmented wax. Visoky fuses disparate elements to create an unexpected composition. Gallery hours: Tues.-Sun. 11-5pm.

Through July 20: Exhibition Tells New Castle’s History
New Castle Historical Society will be delving into its town’s past with local artists from the 20th century as well as a tour. The exhibition on display features pictures from New Castle’s history, including Sutton Farm, the Quaker Meetinghouse, the Memorial Day Parade and more. Hours: Tues., Wed. & Thurs. from 11-3pm.

April 27: Celebrating Wood Crafting in Bethany
Bethany Arts Community presents WoodFest 2024, where guests will have the opportunity to experience wood sculpture demonstrations, check out hand-crafted creations and participate in wood-crafting activities. The festival will also feature live music, art and more throughout the day. From 11-4pm.

April 27: Open Mic Closes Out National Poetry Month
Hudson Valley Writers Center will be hosting a special Open Mic event to celebrate National Poetry Month and the Westchester 30-Day Poetry Challenge. The event will be led by Westchester’s Poet Laureate Phylisha Villanueva and will feature submissions from the 30-Day Poetry Challenge on Instagram. 6-8pm.

April 27: Jazz Performance of ‘Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing’ in Pound Ridge
Pound Ridge Library is celebrating National Poetry Month with a performance of Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing that uses texts from this and other writings by James Weldon Johnson. The event features jazz pianist and composer Pete Malinveri and classically trained vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Lydia Brown. From 3-4:30pm.

May 3-5: Crafts at Lyndhurst
Crafts at Lyndhurst returns with a weekend of arts, food, family-friendly activities and more. More than 200 craftspeople and makers will display works in a variety of media, including jewelry, ceramics, woodwork, textiles and more. Guests will also have the opportunity to watch craft demonstrations and explore the Mansion’s 67-acre grounds on the Hudson River.  Fri. & Sun. 10-5pm & Sat. 10-6pm.

May 4: Esteemed Conductor’s Farewell Concert
On May 4, Westchester Oratorio Society presents its final concert with Benjamin Niemczyk, the group’s conductor of 20 years. The program for Glorious Spring! A Farewell to Our Conductor Benjamin Niemczyk will feature Brahms’s Liedbeslieder Suite and Schicksaslied (Songs of Destiny) and Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor, K. 427. South Salem Presbyterian Church at 7pm.

May 4 & 5: Yonkers Arts Weekend
Yonkers Arts Weekend, a two-day festival produced by the City of Yonkers and Yonkers Arts, presents workshops, exhibitions and more at many of the city’s arts organizations and venues. The weekend includes offerings from Blue Door Art Center, Hudson River Museum, MorDance, Philipse Manor Hall, S.I.C Film School, Untermyer Gardens Conservancy, US+U/Warburton Galerie, YOFI DMAC, Yonkers Philharmonic, Yonkers Public Library’s Riverfront Art Gallery and more.

May 4: Photography Depicts Women Serving Life Sentences
The Capa Space presents an opening reception for Inside and Out: Women with Life Sentences: Photographs by Sara Bennet on May 4. Bennet spent 18 years as a public defender before turning her attention to photography. Her portraits aim to humanize these women who are serving life sentences. The exhibition, which is on view through July 21, also includes handwritten texts from the women. From 5-7pm.
