New opportunities for choristers with Westchester Chorale

Westchester Chorale announces the opening of our 58th singing season with scintillating melodies of southern Latin America. We invite new singers to join us in preparation for our next concert to be performed December 10th in Larchmont.

For our December 2022 concert, “Rhythms from the Pampas,” the Westchester Chorale will travel musically to Latin America to showcase two 20th-century Argentine composers, who were inspired by musical traditions of their homeland.

The program opens with Navidad Nuestra by the acclaimed composer, Ariel Ramirez, who draws on Argentine folkloric melodies to create a musical celebration of Christmas which has become popular throughout the continent.

The companion choral piece, Indianas, is Carlos Guastavino’s romantic collection of six lilting songs incorporating syncopated rhythms with echoes of Andean musical culture.

In keeping with the season, our program will be enhanced by the inclusion of Christmas carols which are popular in Latin America. Taken together, these offerings promise to be delightful new musical discoveries for Westchester audiences.

Rehearsals are held at Larchmont Avenue Church (60 Forest Park Avenue, Larchmont) Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm. New choristers are invited to our Open Rehearsals starting September 13.

Proof of Covid Vaccination & Photo ID Required at Door.
