MAG presents the Solo Exhibition of Lois Palestine, “Recent Works”

On View:  Tuesday, June 25th – Saturday, July 13th  , 2019
Opening Reception:  Saturday, June 29th , 3-5pm

This exhibit will highlight Lois Palestine’s photographs together as well as the collages and paintings inspired by those photographs.

Lois’s paintings are composed from many photographs of places that she lives near or visits.  “They are presented in a simple two dimensional layout that I thought would show the charm and humor of the location.  The small collages are done as works on paper.  I color the paper with watercolor or acrylic paint and then cut it up and mount it on board or canvas.  I plan to show them alongside the original photograph.   One photograph might inspire many collages in different colors and degrees of abstraction.  It was one of five or six that came from one photograph”.

The photographs in Lois’s solo exhibition will be shown by themselves or in series with others that are similar.

Lois studied painting and darkroom photography at the Westchester Art Workshop in White Plains. She is a past member of the New Rochelle and Scarsdale Art Association and is an active member of the Mamaroneck Artists Guild, juried in photography, acrylic painting and mixed media.  Lois is also an active member of the Rye Art Center, Island Images Gallery on Martha’s Vineyard, as well as the Ground Glass Photography.
