Let the Inner Artist Shine – Registration Open for Summer 2019 at the Pelham Art Center

Summer is right around the corner and it’s time to start planning fun for the whole family! From week-long camps to semester courses and workshops, the Art Center offers everything under the sun for artists of all ages and levels.

Summer art camps for youth are designed to stimulate artistic expression and creative exploration. Projects and activities follow various weekly themes tailored to different age groups and interests, making each week a new adventure for the imaginative child. Little ones can enjoy week-long themed camps including Creative Mindfulness (July 15-19), Roar! Dinosaurs (August 12-16), Artist Week (August 19-23), and Travel the World (August 26-30).

Older kids can immerse themselves in a specific medium week by week. Young artists will enjoy the hands-on activity in Hand-building and Wheel-throwing (July 15-19) or Fine Jewelry Making (July 22-26). Pelham Art Center also offers camps in classic media such as Drawing & Painting (July 8-12), Printmaking (July 29-August 2), Watercolors (August 5-9 at 10am-1pm or 1pm-4pm), and Acrylic Painting (August 19-23).

Digital media offers endless ways to watch the imagination come to life. Digital Photography is available to multiple age groups, in addition to opportunities for artistic expansion in the Pelham Art Center Media Lab. Parents can sign up their aspiring filmmaker, designer, or animator for camps including Hand Animation (July 22-26), Pixel Pals (August 5-9 & August 19-23), and Make a Trailer or Make a Horror Film Camps (August 26-30).

Youth and adults can take a shine to a variety of media in once-a-week semester courses and summer workshops. On Saturdays throughout July and August, youth can delve into classes in Mixed Media (Ages 5-8), 3D Modeling & Animation (Ages 12-15), Folk Art Painting (Ages 9-12), or Stop Motion Animation (Ages 8-11). Adults and teens will find inspiration in a number of courses. The novice can get started with Intro to Ceramics or Principles of Drawing. Courses including Deconstructing the Face, In-depth Painting, and Branding & Logo Design explore topics in greater detail, while Create with Collage and Abstract Painting projects encourage more freeform expression.

Looking for midsummer motivation? Pelham Art Center workshops offer a refreshing break in your routine. Create an oil painting in one session at the Alla Prima workshop on August 10, or liberate your inner artist at the Painting with Alternative Media workshop August 24.
