Katonah Museum Artists’ Association Exhibit at the Schoolhouse Theater and Arts Center

NORTH SALEM, NY (FEBRUARY 15, 2017) The Schoolhouse Theater and Arts Center presents the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association Show ‘Chance” in the Schoolhouse Theater Art Galleries from February 11 through March 17, 2017. Hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 am – 2:45 pm and by appointment. No Entrance Fee.

In the early 20th century, beginning with the Dadaists, artists began experimenting with chance in the creation & presentation of their work, and that exploration continues today. Artists, musicians, dancers, writers have used dice, coins, spinners, the I Ching, and even computer programs to tap into randomness. Some well-known users of chance include Lewis Carroll, John Cage, and Marcel Duchamp. Members were chosen by “chance” to show by drawing twelve names from a hat! See the curated bodies of work from each lucky winner in this unconventional show.
