Yonkers Community Art In Action | Japanese Fish Painting

The participants will design a fish using craft paper. They will design and make their own patterns using stripes, dots or other shapes. All paper fish banners will be painted and the participants will be instructed to paint them in cold or warm colors. The resist technique will be introduced (oil pastels and watercolor paints). Samples of Japanese fish banners painted in warm or cool colors will be presented.

This is an introduction of how Children’s Day is celebrated in different cultures (in Japan in this case). It’s a national holiday in Japan.
