Year of Your Book: Fiction with Jonathan Vatner via Zoom

This is a 6-week class meeting Thursdays 6:30 – 8:30pm, starting Thursday, October 27 for six Thursdays, ending on December 8. Class will not meet on Thanksgiving Day. This class will be taught online via Zoom. Login details will be sent via email from the instructor a few days before class begins. Please email admin@writerscenter.org with questions.

How long have you been saying you want to write a book? Let 2022 be the year you do it! Whether you have a partial draft, or just an idea and the desire to write, this class can help you put that “book in your head” onto the page. We will craft outlines and discuss structure, then address the mechanics of fiction during in-depth, sensitive critiques of your work. Generative exercises will challenge you to experiment with new voices and forms, and our community of writers will help you stick to your goals. With steady effort, you can finish that first draft by this time next year.

Jonathan Vatner is the author of The Bridesmaids Union, released on June 14, 2022, from St. Martin’s Press. His 2019 novel, Carnegie Hill, earned praise from People, Town & Country, The New York Post, and the Los Angeles Review of Books. He is the managing editor of Hue, the magazine of the Fashion Institute of Technology and teaches fiction writing at New York University. He lives in Yonkers, NY, with his husband and cats.
