Westchester Oratorio Society’s Fall Soirée in Bedford Features Cellist, Chloe Perret Carrozza

On Sunday, November 1, the Westchester Oratorio Society will hold its annual fall event entitled “Wine, WOS & Music, an autumnal soirée” at the beautiful Parish Hall of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Bedford, NY.

The highlight of the evening will be an intimate performance by cellist, Chloe Perret Carrozza, accompanied by pianist, Mi-Won Kim Goldsmith, in a program featuring Beethoven’s “Cello Sonata” Op. 5 No. 2, and the Schumann “Fantasy Pieces.”

For Artistic Director, Ben Niemczyk, the young cellist’s appearance will be a homecoming of sorts. A John Jay High School graduate, she appeared almost a decade ago for the oratorio society as part of an exceptionally talented student trio which included violinists Tia Plautz and Yvonne Yang.

Chloe Carrozza began her studies at age seven with Vagram Saradjian, having attended the School for Strings, the Manhattan School of Music Preparatory Division, and both Pre-College, and College Divisions at The Juilliard School as a scholarship student under the tutelage of Bonnie Hampton. She currently resides in Katonah, NY, with her husband and cat.

A variety of wines from Europe and the United States will be available for tasting courtesy of Suburban Wines of Yorktown and may be ordered for the holidays, and the always delicious appetizers prepared by the chorus will be served. The performance will be followed by coffee and savories.

Wine rep, Stuart Gray, will walk tasters through the “liquid geology” of grapes showing how soil variations, often due to the local rocks, slate, limestone or volcanic, can affect taste. Wines tasted will be available for order, and full cases will be discounted. Proceeds from the event (including a portion of wine sales) will benefit the programs of the Westchester Oratorio Society. The afternoon begins at 3:30 with the wine tasting and appetizers. 5:00 PM is the Musical performance.

Founded in South Salem in 1997, Westchester Oratorio Society rehearses on Tuesday evenings at the Katonah Village Library. The group will give its first concert of the season on Saturday evening November 21 at the Presbyterian Church of Mount Kisco, featuring Bach Magnificat and Poulenc Gloria.
