Wellness Workshop: Reflections of the Human Heart (Virtual)

You are invited to join art therapist Kit Demirdelen for the first in a series of five workshops, targeted to different audiences, that will explore the healing qualities of art and nature, and the rhythms shared by both.

This virtual workshop is geared toward seniors and the homebound. It will start with a close observation and discussion of two highly evocative artworks: Lee Krasner’s Re-Echo, 1957, and George Bellows’ Evening Swell, 1911, and invite viewers to acknowledge their own emotional journeys. Demirdelen will lead a discussion about expressing emotion through artwork and encourage a conversation around the emotional impact of the pandemic. Then, participants will create artwork using materials one would have at home, particularly found objects and recyclables, out of respect for nature.

This program will be followed by four on-site workshops on the following dates:

  • Saturday, September 24, 2022, 1–3pm (for elementary-age children)
  • Saturday, October 15, 2022, 1–3pm (for adults)
  • Saturday, November 19, 2022, 1–3pm (for middle and high schoolers)
  • Saturday, January 21, 2023, 1–3pm (for families)
