Week of Dance Open House

Steffi Nossen School of Dance will open its doors to the community for a free week of dance, September15 – 20. All classes are available at no charge. With studios centrally located in White Plains and Chappaqua, Steffi Nossen appeals to the needs of a variety of dance students.

We are delighted to announce a roster of new classes: Contemporary, Tiny Dancers, Improvisation/Composition, Fall Showcase Ensemble, Adult ballet, and an Adult Beginning Workshop with 8-week sessions of Ballet, Modern, and Jazz.

Our newly expanded Core Dance Program includes  modern dance classes through grade 3, Modern/Jazz for grades 4-7, and Jazz for grades 6 and up; Hip-Hop for grades 2 – high school,   and our NEW Core Ballet and Tap programs for children starting in preschool.   Curricula are designed to develop both technique and creativity as they emphasize movement and dance vocabulary. Classes are age-based; technique is taught in the form of dances appropriate to the physical and education development of each age level set to music of a variety of styles and periods.

We continue to offer level-based technique classes in Modern, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Hip-Hop. Added is Contemporary, a fusion ofa fusion of ballet, modern, post – modern and jazz techniques, favored by many current dancers and choreographers.

In our new Improvisation/Composition class dancers can experience the complete choreographic process.  Participants will learn how to shape movement into choreography, music selection, casting, rehearsal process, and production preparation. A panel will select the most promising work for inclusion in our November 22nd Choreography Showcase, sharing the stage with works of professional choreographers.

Please note our two new adult classes: morning Adult Ballet class and an Adult Beginner Workshop with 8-week sessions in Ballet, Modern, and Jazz.

The new Tiny Dancers program, for toddlers as young as 12 months with caregivers, introduces young children to the Joy of Dance, inviting parents and caretakers to be a part of this fun-filled class focusing on motor skills and musicality.

Named by Westchester Magazine, 2013 Best of Westchester,  Moving Wheels & Heels, our program of adaptive dance classes for students of all abilities both wheelchair and stand-up – begins its 11th year; classes feature movement adapted so that all can  experience the joy of moving to music, express creativity, and  learn dance technique.– all to live music.
