Walk a Creative Path
Follow Bethanne’s journey as an art quilter from her beginnings making traditional quilts, then branching out into pattern manipulation, to her current pictographic silk art quilts in a this exciting zoom presentation.   Bethanne will share 22 years of her quilt history from her humble and shaky beginnings to her masterpiece quilt with excellent shot photography and inspiring creative suggestions. Walk with Bethanne on her creative journey as she explains how she recognizes the creative spark, grows her concepts for her elaborate story quilts from initial sketches, paintings, photography to final creation and finish details.  Hopefully each quilter can learn some tips on recognizing inspiration and learn to document and organize it,  to facilitate their own quilt design in this funny creative journey.
Bio:  Bethanne is a classically trained artist, with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Crafts and Art History, and a Master’s of Science in Art Therapy.  Although quilting is a part of her family history, Bethanne didn’t really discover quilting until moving to the Amish and Mennonite area of Pennsylvania in 1997 and falling in love with the quilting traditions of the area.  Bethanne quickly began designing her own quilts, and competing in the national quilt competitions.  It was in 2007, when Bethanne purchased a longarm sewing machine and started a quilt for hire business that her natural drawing ability met with the pencil-like qualities of a longarm that she was truly able to express herself through quilting.  Bethanne has developed an international reputation as an award winning show quilter with her highly detailed pictographic quilts and their unique beaded finish details, as well as a traveling teacher and author of books, rulers and DVD classes.  Today, Bethanne loves teaching both the high end finish details she is known for, but also teaching others to love freehand quilting.  Whether that quilting be pragmatic, or extraordinary, Bethanne loves to help each quilter discover what works for them.
