Freestyle Poetry Workshop with Toni Blackman

A Freestyle Poetry Workshop with Toni Blackman
Use Your Words and Rock the Vote!

Join Toni Blackman at The Gallery of ArtsWestchester in downtown White Plains!

World renowned hip-hop poet Toni Blackman leads a workshop in freestyle (improvised) rap. Participants will learn techniques for creating their own freestyle verse in a cypher, a group setting where everyone performs collectively in a circle. Blackman, the first hip-hop ambassador to the U.S. State Department, is an award-winning artist who has performed alongside Erykah Badu, the Wu-Tang Clan, Sheryl Crow, and many others.

Rock the Vote! is the largest non-partisan, non-profit organization in the United States driving young people to the polls. Fusing pop culture, politics and technology, Rock the Vote works to mobilize the millennial voting bloc and the youth vote, protect voting rights, and advocate for an electoral process and voting system that works for the 21st century electorate.
