Presents Unintended Consequences: A Reading of One Act Plays

Ossining, NY – From Thursday, July 14 through Sunday, July 17, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) will present “Unintended Consequences: A reading of One Act Plays,” directed by Karina Ramsey, Executive Producer of WCT, director of WCT’s 2015 Living Art event.  The five plays, a satisfying mix of touching dramas and bittersweet dramedies, were developed and dramaturged through WCT’s ongoing lab workshop process where member actors and writers bring new pieces to life. The Sunday July 17th performance will be followed by a talk-back with the playwrights and performers.  “Unintended Consequences: A reading of One Act Plays,” will take place at the Steamer Co. Gallery, 117 Main St., 2nd Floor, Ossining, NY.  The seating available for these performances is limited. Advance purchase for is strongly suggested.  Tickets are $15 general admission Friday and Sunday with discounts available for WCT/OAC members, seniors, students and groups of 5+.  Tickets are available for purchase online at www.wctheater.org.
The plays are:

You’ll be Back by Susan Courtney; “A young man journeys to Ireland to find out why his mother has vowed never to return…and discovers some family secrets.”

The Spoiler by Linda Bidwell Delaney; “Kevin and Chloe are falling passionately in love.  Spoiler Alert!”

High Contrast by Pat O’Connor; “During an interview to hire someone to watch her new grandchild, a retired judge realizes she needs to loosen up and listen to someone with real life experience.”

A Waltz Without Turns by Angelo Parra; A spur-of-the-moment vacation ends, and mismatched lovers grapple over what’s next.

and Question Mark by Bob Zaslow. “Mark, a question-maniac, can’t pop the big one, but gets a little help from his “friends.” ”

 

The ensemble of WCT actors includes: Sherman Alpert, Chris Arena, Enid Breis, Jim Brownold, Susan Courtney, Michelle Daneschvar, Miguel Angel Garcia, Donna James, Phyllis Kirigin, Erik Langner, Suzanne Ochs, Pat O’Neill and Cathy Schaeffer.

 

The Westchester Collaborative Theater is a multicultural, cooperative theater company located in Ossining, NY, dedicated to developing new work for the stage and bringing live theater to the community. It is comprised of local playwrights, actors, and directors who employ a Lab approach in which new stage works are nurtured through an iterative process of readings, critiques, and rewrites. When work is ready for production, it is produced for the public at various local venues.

 

WCT is committed to furthering theater arts in our community. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and a recipient of production grants from ArtsWestchester and New York State Council on the Arts.
