Unearthing the Essay: Digging deep and owning your narrative with Ko Im via Zoom


The essay is a powerful tool of understanding oneself and sharing larger insights. This prompt-driven workshop will explore—and practice—the art of honest, conversational writing. Open to all those interested in personal essays and opinion pieces that highlight the human experience and show greater learnings about the lives we live.

NB: This class will be held on Zoom. There are two Altman Persons of Color Scholarship available for each one-day class on a first come, first served basis. Please let the Center know right away if your plans change and you can no longer attend the class so we can give the spot to another student of color. Thank you.

Ko Im is an award-winning storyteller and editor (Ny Yoga + Life, Medium’s The Salve). Ko’s essays have appeared on Nylon and Curbed. She wrote and narrated an e-memoir for millenials: Broke, not Broken. The cross-disciplinary artist and Craigardan resident performed and produced a poetry-laden screenplay at the Ace Hotel in New York last summer. She has also reported for CBS News, Cosmopolitan and the Washington Post. Ko earned her MS in journalism at Columbia University.
