“Tune-Up Chorus”

Come out and support our theater as we kick off our 2015-2016 season!

People ask, “What is a tune-up chorus?”  Think karaoke meets a piano bar crossed with jamming to your car radio or singing alone in your shower.  Yes– a room full of people that just LOVE to sing. You’re still unsure aren’t you?  Join us so you can see what it’s all about!!!

Add free beer supplied by Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, snacks to munch on, incredible raffle items to tune-up your own life and you have a great party, all inside of a historic theater… the place where people used to gather for all sorts of events when it was first built in the early 1900’s.

The Irvington Town Hall Theater 2015-2016 season kicks off on Friday night, September 25th with “Tune-Up Chorus,” a benefit fundraiser for theater upgrades including an entrance and lobby beautification project.

From Toronto to Raleigh, pop-up choruses are the newest rage for joyful, artistic expression in cities around the country. Audience members gather, sing their favorite songs with complete abandon (regardless of musical ability), learn a few new tunes under the direction of a “conductor” (in this case, former Irvington High School choral director, Doug Winters) and have fun.

The event will feature raffle items and free beer (thanks to Captain Lawrence Brewing Company). For anyone who’s performed in a school chorus or dabbled in karaoke, this group-sing experience garners rave reviews.
