Trade Secrets: Writing for Children and Young Adults

Of course, there are no hard and fast rules to creative writing and if there are, they are meant to be broken. At the same time, there ARE guidelines rules to writing successful fiction, especially when writing for children and young adults. In this full day seminar, Nora Raleigh Baskin will share everything she wished she had known when she first started sending out her work for acceptance: From turning fact into fiction, plot vs character, writing realistic effective dialogue, to navigating the rapidly changing publishing world. The bottom line is that you bend the rules once you know what they are. “Each time I begin a new novel, I have to remind myself of these things, all over again, as if for the first time.”
