Antonia Arts, Inc. is proud to announce the return of The Wizard of Oz to the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater (1008 Brown Street, Peekskill, NY). The encore performances are to honor Jimmy Mack and to start a Scholarship Foundation, which will provide funds for creative and performing arts classes, workshops, and performances.
The Wizard of Oz performances on June 7, 2015 will honor the memory of James McNair, beloved comic from Peekskill, known as Uncle Jimmy Mack. He began his career on Saturday Night Live and dedicated his life to the performing arts and our youths. Jimmy died a year ago in a multi-vehicle accident on the New Jersey Turnpike, while traveling with comedian Tracy Morgan.
These performances provide an opportunity to sponsor programs for our youth: The Antonia Arts, Jimmy Mack Scholarship Foundation (creative and performing arts), and The Andrea Rizzo Foundation (dance for kids with cancer and special needs).
Join us as we revisit L. Frank Baum’s famous story in where Dorothy Gale (Gabrielle Sansone), a young farm girl from in Kansas finds herself on a fascinating jounrey. After getting in the way of her Aunt Em (Elaine Healy) and Uncle Henry’s (Martin Posner) work, she finds a quiet place where she won’t get into any trouble; somewhere over the rainbow. Dorothy is upset after being presented with a sheriff’s summons for her beloved dog, by her mean neighbor, Miss Gultch. Toto manages to escape Miss Gultch and returns to Dorothy as she runs away from the farm. The duo meet with kind Professor Marvel, who convinces her to go back home. After a cyclone hits the area, locking Dorothy and Toto out of the family’s storm cellar, they go into her bedroom, where Dorothy is accidentally hit on the head. This begins their journey to the Land of Oz.
