The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival performs JULIUS CAESAR for Mamaroneck’s Summer Nights on the Sound

The 2019  Mamaroneck Summer Nights on the Sound series closes with a production of Julius Caesar by The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, under the direction of Illana Stein.   The whole family will enjoy the special production, streamlined for clarity of both plot and language.

A charismatic war hero on the brink of kingship, Caesar is celebrated by the people of Rome – but mistrusted by some of his closest friends who fear his popularity will throw the country into chaos. In our immersive, 90-minute production originally developed with young people in mind, audience members will construct a post-apocalyptic world of power and consequence with their own movement and voices.

Celebrating its 33rd summer season in 2019, Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF) is a critically acclaimed (The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal), professional, non-profit theater company based in Garrison, NY. The Festival is known for lucid, engaging, and highly inventive productions staged under an open-air Theater Tent overlooking the Hudson River at historic Boscobel House and Gardens. Recently, the Festival has ventured beyond the Tent, touring its work to other venues as part of its HVSF On the Road series, transferring productions to other theaters, engaging its community through radically participatory art-making, and reaching over 50,000 students and educators annually through its year-round Education programs.
