The Evolution of Color and Texture

Wednesday, March 4, 2015 - Thursday, March 5, 2015
12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

March roars in like a lion at the Mamaroneck Artists Guild Gallery, with The Evolution of Color and Texture, an exhibition of recently created oil paintings by Scarsdale resident, Jill S. Krutick. Beginning on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, visitors to the Gallery will see works inspired by the great Impressionists Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh as well as Abstract Expressionist Mark Rothko. The works included in this exhibition bridge together Ms. Krutick’s lifelong fascination with color and texture and her observations of the nature that surrounds her. Typically using a palette knife to layer and scrape, she reworks her oil paintings until a sense of harmony and balance is achieved. The rawness of texture enhanced by color creates a powerful energy and source of contemplation.

Meet the artist at an opening reception on Saturday, March 7, 2015, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Ms. Krutick will also be at the Gallery on Sundays March 8th, 15th and 22nd from noon until 3:00 p.m. to discuss her work. This exhibit runs from March 3, 2015 – March 28, 2015 on Tuesday-Saturday 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM, and Sundays 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM.

Established in 1953 by seven local artists, the Mamaroneck Artists Guild is the oldest artist cooperative maintaining its own gallery in Westchester County.

This event is part of ARTSEE, a festival showcasing new works of art throughout Westchester County in celebration of ArtsWestchester’s 50th anniversary.
