The Dover Quartet

The Westchester Chamber Music Society is thrilled to present live, in concert, in our exceptionally intimate setting and perfectly conducive to the enjoyment of chamber music, The Dover Quartet. This world class group of musicians returns to our series this season on Sunday, Nov. 19th to delight and enthrall our local community with their beautiful sound.

The Dover String Quartet was catapulted to international stardom following a stunning sweep of the 2013 Banff International String Quartet Competition, becoming one of the most in-demand ensembles in the world. The New Yorker recently dubbed them “the young American string quartet of the moment,” and The Strad raved that the Quartet is “already pulling away from their peers with their exceptional interpretive maturity, tonal refinement and taut ensemble.” In 2013-14, the Quartet became the first ever Quartet-in-Residence for the venerated Curtis Institute of Music.

During the 2014-15 season, the Dover Quartet performed more than 100 concerts throughout the United States, Canada, South America, and Europe. Highlights included concerts for the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C, Schneider Concerts in New York City, and Wigmore Hall in London. Dover dazzled us the last time they performed for members and guests of the Westchester Chamber Music Society. We look forward to having them back this year. The Quartet plans to perform Four Pieces for String Quartet, Op.81 by Mendelssohn, Laks: Quartet No. 3, Ullman: Quartet No. 3 and Shumann Quartet No. 2 in F Major, Op. 41, No. 2.

Unique to our chamber music series is a post concert reception where guests are welcome to meet the artists while enjoying light refreshments. Seating is open and tickets are reasonably priced and can be purchased on our website or at the door a few minutes prior to the performance. Students are always welcome free of charge.
