The Barons at Hudson Park

It’s become a New Rochelle tradition: Hundreds of picnickers on the grass, enjoying the cooling breezes off Long Island Sound as they listen to live music at the Hudson Park band shell every Wednesday night in July and August. The Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds Concert Series, created by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, is in its 7th season and this year’s roundup of musicians is especially eclectic, from mellow jazz to opera to country and western and even salsa. This week The Barons, one of the tri-state area’s hottest “oldies” groups, performs the Emil Paolucci Memorial Concert, honoring local musician and bandleader Emil Paolucci. The Barons are known for their 1963 hits, “Pledge of A Fool”, “Remember Rita”, and “Possibility” (under the name of The Crowns). These tunes will take you back to the 50’s and 60’s.

The Summer Sounds concert series is presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, in partnership with the New Rochelle Dept. of Parks and Recreation.  For more information visit the NRCA website at www.newrochellearts.org or telephone the Dept. of Parks and Recreation at 654-2087.
