The Artist’s Journey

“The Artist’s Journey”, pastels, drawings and collages by award-winning artist Elan Daniel Louis, will be on exhibit at the Mamaroneck Artists Guild Gallery beginning Tuesday, May 27, 2014, and continuing through Saturday, June 21, 2014.

Louis, who is driven by a passion for self-expression through visual art, will display works created between 2012 and the present. His pastel works, often noted for their unique and imaginative style and technique, convey a sense of movement, often in vivid colors. These pastel works are contrasted with his strikingly detailed pencil and paper studies of peoples’ faces. The subject of these sketches are often the dispossessed, and deliver a more serious tone. More recently, Elan has explored the mediums of mixed media and collage, creating pieces that are playful and light-hearted. Largely a self-taught artist, Mr. Louis notes that, “at the center of my art is people and the organic world. My art is about what I observe in other people and in my surroundings, yet at the same time, much of it is introverted and dreamy.”

He is represented by several galleries in the New York area and his work, which has been featured in The New York Times, is in collections throughout the United States and Europe.

A reception where the public can meet the artist will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2014, from 2 to 5 p.m.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
