Taconic Opera presents New York’s very own La Stupenda (The Great One), Francesca Mondanaro, in Concert Fundraiser

Taconic Opera_FrancescaCurrently entering its 19th season and past recipient of the ArtsWestchester Arts Organization of the Year Award, Taconic Opera will be hosting a concert fundraiser featuring one of the most well-received sopranos to ever have performed with the company over its prior 18 year history: soprano Francesca Mondanaro.  General Director Dan Montez remembers, “When she first sang for me, it took me a few minutes to realize I was listening to something astounding…I had never heard anything like it in my lifetime.  She is, hands down, my favorite soprano in the world, and that is no exaggeration.”  It is almost certain that Australia’s La Stupenda, Dame Joan Sutherland, would happily share the moniker with Ms. Mondanaro upon hearing her perform.  Audiences will have the opportunity to experience the magic for themselves at a satisfaction-guaranteed performance on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at 3:00 pm at the Music Conservatory of Westchester, 216 Central Ave., White Plains, NY.

Ms. Mondanaro has a voice range and the seemingly effortless technique that can handle everything from the highest drama to the lightest coloratura with perfection.  Local and overseas music critics have heaped praise on this native New Yorker who has been invited to perform throughout the U.S. and Europe, including guest soloist in a special recital honoring and based on the life and career of Maria Callas at Opera Delaware and Baltimore Concert Opera.  Following her October 2012 Taconic Opera performance in Verdi’s Nabucco, Daniel Foley of MusicalCriticism.com had this to say: “As for Francesca Mondanaro’s Abigaille, where to begin?  Everyone was completely dazzled by her vocal and dramatic abilities.  Larger companies should rush to hire this phenomenal dramatic coloratura soprano, who richly deserves to be featured on the worlds’ greatest operatic stages.  This could well be – and I do not say this lightly – the best interpretation of Abigaille I have ever heard live or on record….”  Those who wish to learn more about Ms. Mondanaro’s long list of accomplishments can visit her website at www.francescamondanaro.com.

The Music Conservatory of Westchester is centrally located and has handicap accessibility.  Due to limited seating, advance purchase is recommended.  Tickets for this fundraiser are $50 and can be purchased online at www.taconicopera.org or by calling Taconic Opera’s toll-free number (855) 886-7372.
