Swimming in Fashion

In his Floaters series, artist Derrick Adams depicts people in various states of rest, relaxation, and play, buoyantly floating on calm waters, wearing vividly colored bathing suits. Join fashion illustrator Renaldo Barnette, who teaches at FIT and has designed swimwear for Anne Klein, for a history of the swimsuit and the evolution of bathing attire up to the present, incorporating fashion that blurs racial and gender lines. Learn how designers use their voice and platform to challenge social narratives and evoke dialogue on the runway and poolside.
