Student Art Exhibit

27 students from New Rochelle High School’s PAVE Visual Arts 1/2/3 will have their paintings on display at a local business, Successful Vision, for the month of February. New Rochelle resident and storeowner Frank DePaolo invited the NRHS Art Dept. to display the students’ work in association with the New Rochelle Council on the Arts. Successful Vision is located at 106 5th Avenue in Pelham (https://www.svbshop.com/ ) There will be an artists’  reception on March 2nd from 6 to 8 pm.

The students’ works – oil painting triptychs — were created after a fall trip to the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, where they photographed the flowers and learned about artist Georgia O’Keeffe. The students worked under the guidance of teachers Alexi Brock, Moira McCaul and Scott Seaboldt. The students featured in the exhibit include Wenting Yu, Fatima Navarro, Amber Lee, Amanda Cao, Genevieve Pallotta, Sierra Vacca, Martha Diaz, Joanna Fishman, Leyla Selman, Grace Francella, Julian Quintero, Rocco Ruggiero, Kailey Griffith, Israel Illa, Lucie Opdyke, Brooke Rieger, Joyce He, Jasmine Oliveros, Carolyn Blenk, Amanda Silva, Stephanie Jimenez, F. New Rochelle Council on the Arts Vice President Melissa Panszi-Riebe says “NRCA sees this as a great opportunity for local businesses to really support the arts in our community.  We are grateful for businesses like Successful Vision for showing their support, and feel fortunate to have this opportunity to support the talent at New Rochelle High School.”

Optician Frank DePaolo established Successful Vision in 2017 in New York City and opened the Pelham location in December. Designed as a premier eyewear boutique “without the boutique prices,” the shop aims to offer beautiful and unique frames with premier quality lens and lens treatments at an affordable price. Successful Vision is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, closed on Sundays and Mondays. (Tuesdays 9:30 am to 7 pm, Wednesdays 10 am to 7:30 pm, Thursdays 10 am to 8 pm, Fridays 9 am to 7 pm, Saturdays 9:30 am to 6:30 pm.)

The New Rochelle Council on the Arts was created by the New Rochelle City Council in 1975 to stimulate and encourage the study and presentation of the performing and fine arts; for 40 years NRCA has worked to fulfill that mission by sponsoring art exhibitions, theatrical productions, dance recitals, film screenings, lectures, and concert series. In addition, NRCA has sponsored public art and created ArtsFest, while helping to build relationships between the arts, the business community and city government. The NRCA website www.newrochellearts.org has become major resource for artists and art lovers – the “go-to” place for information about the arts. Membership in NRCA is open to artists and non-artists alike, with members receiving special discounts and invitations to networking events and studio tours. For more information visit NRCA on the web at www.newrochellearts.org.

NRCA’s programs are made possible, in part, by ArtsWestchester with funds from Westchester County Government, the City of New Rochelle, and the support and participation of NRCA’s membership.
