All Skill Levels and Mediums Welcome
Our ability to paint and draw what we see is a deeply fulfilling and rewarding practice. The great beauty of still life painting is that we can find a dynamic composition wherever we are. For the beginner and advanced student alike there is endless scope for perfection of technique and artistic expression. The diverse forms in both the natural and manmade world have inspired and encouraged artists through the ages. Join in this time honored tradition and take your skills to the next level.
During this workshop I will demonstrate and give individual instruction each day. We will consider the following topics, composition, proportions, developing basic light and shade, modeling of form and finally achieving a good likeness of our subject. My Goal is that each student walks away with a clear understanding of how to approach a still life.
Direct Painting is a technique in which the drawing, tone, color, edge and brush strokes happen simultaneously. The painting is worked “wet into wet” and typically finished in one session. Great Masters of the past like Velasquez, Sargent and Sorolla worked this way. It is a thrilling practice with endless scope for expression.
Each day will be broken down as follows:
12:30- 1:00 Lunch
1:00- 4:00 Painting
