Stein’s Circle: “Gertrude’s Things and Objects”

Stein’s poetry is cluttered with thing: nickels, boxes, dirt, waists, roast beef and artichokes.

Her writing maps a variety of objects food and rooms, lingering on each word until, as she explained, “I got their weight and volume complete and put them next to another word”.  This talk examines these relationships.  lecturer Tom Nurmi, Prof. Elmira College
