2015 Jazz Fest-South American Jazz Project


Led by Grammy award winning composer, arranger, pianist and producer from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Daniel Freiberg, the quintet explores the rhythms and melodies from Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Chile and Perú from a Jazz point of view.

Featuring: Daniel Freiberg (piano), Tim Armacost (sax and flute), Yotam Silberstein (guitar), Edward Pérez (bass), Eric Doob (drums)

Award winning composer, arranger, pianist and music producer Daniel Freiberg has spent most of his life at the intersection of the distinct worlds of classical, jazz, rock and Latin American music. Freiberg has collaborated in projects with Paquito D’Rivera, The Wynton Marsalis Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Dizzy Gillespie All Stars Big Band, Claudio Roditi, Regina Carter, Stephane Grapelli, Marc Anthony, Maureen McGovern, Jaguares, Willie Colón and Cheo Feliciano, among others.  His composition “For Lenny” is included on Paquito D’Rivera’s album “Song For Maura”, winner of two Grammy Awards for Best Latin Jazz Album of the Year.  Freiberg has performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival, JVC Jazz Festival, Charlie Parker Jazz Festival, Clifford Brown Jazz Festival, Berlin Jazz Festival, and New York City venues The Blue Note, The Village Gate, Jazz At Lincoln Center and Town Hall.
