Samurai Rebellion

The great Toshiro Mifune stars as an aging swordsman in this gripping Edo-period story of a family that defies their lord’s command in favor of true love—and risks destruction. Director Kobayashi builds the tension to a sword-flashing conclusion in this key work of samurai cinema. We’re playing a 35mm print struck in 2005 from a restored, high-definition digital transfer.
