Mining the Personal for Photographic Stories. With JP Terlizzi

Mining the Personal for Photographic Stories

We all have stories to share that are deeply rooted in personal emotion. Whether the experience is about joy, pain, or sadness we strive to keep our vision with honesty, establishing an emotional connection with each image we create. Who we are is part of what we create. The collective memories from our past informs the present and shapes who we choose to become as an individual. The presentation will focus on the artist’s photographic journey as he discusses his inspirations and strategy he employs in developing meaningful and intimate personal narratives.

JP Terlizzi is a New York City visual artist whose work explores themes of memory, relationship, and identity. His images are rooted in the personal and heavily influenced around the notion of home, legacy, and family. He is curious how the past relates to the present and how that impacts and shapes one’s identity. JP earned a BFA in Communication Design at Kutztown University of PA and has studied photography at the International Center of Photography in New York and Maine Media College in Rockport, ME. JP has received many honors and recognition and his work has been exhibited widely in galleries across the Unites States and internationally. JP is currently represented by Foto Relevance Gallery in Houston TX.
