Reading with Mark Slouka and Diane Seuss


Sarah Lawrence College announces the line-up for free nightly readings by literary luminaries open to the public June 21- June 26. The readings, which pair a poet and a prose writer, are part of the College’s Summer Seminar for Writers, a week-long creative writing intensive, founded in 1993 by poets Jane Cooper and Thomas Lux. They will take place on the College’s campus: 1 Mead Way, Bronxville/Yonkers, NY 10708 at 7:30 p.m. in the Donnelley Theatre of the Heimbold Visual Arts Center. This is a reading with Mark Slouka (finalist for the British Book Award) and Diane Seuss (Juniper Prize winner).

Mark Slouka is the author of six books of fiction and non-fiction. His work has been translated into 16 languages. His stories and essays have been included in Best American Short Stories, Best American Essays, and the PEN/O. Henry Prize Stories. In 2008, he was a finalist for the British Book Award for his novelThe Visible World, and his 2011 collection of essays, Essays from the Nick of Time, received the PEN/Diamonstein-Speilvogel Award for the Art of the Essay. A contributing editor to Harpers Magazine since 2001, and a Guggenheim and NEA fellowship recipient, he has taught literature and writing at Harvard, Columbia, and University of Chicago, where he served as Chair of Creative Writing.

Diane Seuss is the author of two books of poetry: Wolf Lake, White Gown Blown Open, which won the 2010 Juniper Prize in Poetry, and It Blows You Hollow. Graywolf will publish her third book, Four Legged Girl, in the fall of 2015.
