Reading: An Evening with Lee Bricetti, Betsy Scholl, and Estha Weiner


Lee Briccetti is a poet and has been the long-time Executive Director of Poets House. Her second collection of poetry, Blue Guide, was published in 2017. She won a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship for Poetry and a Poetry Fellowship to the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. Her leadership of Poets House has built it into one of the premiere literary centers in the United States and one of the great poetry libraries in the world. She created The Poets House Showcase, which gathers all the year’s new books of poetry in one place, now in its twenty-fifth year.

Betsy Sholl has published eight collections of poetry, most recently Otherwise Unseeable (University of Wisconsin Press, 2014), which won the 2015 Maine Literary Award for Poetry. She was a founding member of Alice James Books. Among her awards are a fellowship from the National Endowment of the Arts, and two Maine Writer’s Fellowships. She lives in Portland, Maine, and teaches in the MFA in Writing Program of Vermont College of Fine Arts.

Estha Weiner’s newest poetry collection is at the last minute (Salmon Poetry, 2019). She is also author of In the Weather of the World (Salmon Poetry), Transfiguration Begins at Home (Tiger Bark Press), The Mistress Manuscript (Asheville Book Works), and co-editor/contributor to Blues For Bill: A Tribute to William Matthews (University of Akron Press). Her poems have appeared in numerous anthologies and magazines, including The New Republic and Barrow Street. Winner of a Paterson Poetry Prize and Visiting Scholar at the Shakespeare Institute, Stratford, England, she is founding director of Sarah Lawrence NY Alumni Writers Nights, and serves on the Advisory Committee of Slapering Hol Press, Hudson Valley Writers Center. She is a professor in the English Dept. of City College of NY, CUNY, and Sarah Lawrence College Writing Institute.
