This workshop series runs on Thursdays, from September 10th to October 1st, 4:00-6:00 pm on Zoom. Zoom link will be emailed at time of registration (check spam/junk). Tickets are $250 for this class series. Please register at https://www.writerscenter.org/calendar/holmanpublishing/

In this 4-week poetry publishing class, Amy Holman will teach you her popular, quick and easy methods for narrowing the market to probable literary journals and presses for your poems and manuscripts. She will teach you how to organize a notebook that will become your own personal publishing reference guide, increase your  odds of being published. She will talk about expectations, fairness and ethics in poetry publishing. Expect to evaluate at least 8 literary journals, and 8 presses during the course. The class will be shaped to accommodate the writing styles of those attending it.

Amy Holman is the author of five poetry books, including Wrens Fly Through This Opened Window (Somondoco Press, 2010), and the prizewinning chapbook, Wait for Me, I’m Gone, with Dream Horse Press. Her poems, stories, essays and reviews have been in or are forthcoming in numerous print and online magazines, including American Book Review, Archaeology Magazine, Barrow Street, BigCityLit, Blueline, Chiron Review, Cortland Review, Gargoyle, The Manhattan Review, and The Writer.

As a literary consultant, she has been guest faculty at conferences, centers, and writing programs, including Marin Poetry Center, Bread Loaf Writers Conference, and The New School. She has taught environmental creative writing to 9-12 year olds at the Tarrytown Arts Camp, and nature poetry to adults at Greenwood Lake Public Library. She was a guest poet for The Masters School field trip to the Ossining Weir and would love to encourage expression as an expedition poet, but currently enjoys the way Zoom teaching connects her with writers she can inspire in other locales.
