Presentation: “Growing Up in the West End of New Rochelle”

In celebration of Italian Heritage and Cultural Month, Dennis Nardone will discuss the neighborhood of West New Rochelle, through his personal experiences growing up in the predominantly Italian-American community in the 1950s and 1960s.  New Rochelleans who were raised in “The West” share a great fondness for the close-knit neighborhood and its anchors: Columbus School, Feeney Park Boys and Girls Club, Sr, Joseph’s Church and many other beloved institutions. Copies of his self-published book, “Growing Up in the West End of New Rochelle, New York in the 50’s-60’s: My Life, My Neighborhood,” will be available for purchase, with proceeds being donated for the upkeep of the historic Str. Joseph’s Church. Residents of all ages who grew up in this special neighborhood are invited to bring their own memories and photographs to share! Ossie Davis Theater and Meeting Room. Free.
