Pop Art Styrofoam Printmaking Workshop

Be inspired by Pop Art and create contemporary portraits using styrofoam printmaking technique! Styrofoam printing allows students to begin learning the basic principles of printmaking, using this simple yet versatile technique. After looking at some examples of Pop Art prints and discussing concepts like repetition, pattern and rhythm, students will be able to sketch portraits of themselves, a friend, or a favorite character. Once they have selected their best sketch, they will then transfer it to a foam plate and begin the process of printing. Students will learn concepts of color theory such as primary, secondary and complementary colors, to guide them in their choice of background or foreground colors. After choosing their best 4 prints, they will mount them on a board to complete the project.
