Jimmy Heath

Jimmy Heath has long been recognized as a brilliant instrumentalist composer. Jimmy is the middle brother of the legendary Heath Brothers (Percy Heath, bass and Tootie Heath, drums). Jimmy has performed with nearly all the jazz greats of the last 50 years, from Howard McGhee, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miles Davis to Wynton Marsalis, from the 1st International Jazz Festival in 1948 to Jazz cruises in the present decade. Jimmy has performed on more than 100 albums and has written over 125 compositions, many of which have become jazz standards. Jimmy has also taught at Queens College, Housatonic College, CCNY, and The New School.

Nobody summed it up better than Dizzy Gillespie: “All I can say is, if you know Jimmy Heath, you know Bop.”

PJS is thrilled to welcome Jimmy Heath back to our stage!
