PEEKSKILL PROJECT V @ THE FIELD LIBRARY: Circumactio: Works by Virginia Lavado and Camilo Rojas

HVCCA is delighted to partner with the Field Library Gallery for this two-person exhibition featuring drawings, photographs and videos by Virginia Lavado and Camilo Rojas.

Juxtaposing two seemingly similar objects, or subjects, Lavado and Rojas explore what makes us equal, or what makes us unequal. The artworks in ‘Circumactio’ endeavor to highlight the symmetry inherent in life; birth and rebirth; light day and dark night. Subjects are put into spaces that no longer welcome a happy time, spaces that once molded our memories: an old school, an abandoned hospital where some of our loved ones were born, and some died.
Virginia’s drawings recount mythological visual tales, while at the core of Camilo’s photographs, videos, and installations is an outsider’s perception. Viewers will find dark humor, folktales, and dreams within Lavado’s and Rojas’ fierce voyage through the subject of symmetry in ‘Circumactico.”
