Out of the Blue

Out Of The Blue, Oxford’s all-male a capella sensation, will be performing a live concert at New Rochelle High School on Tuesday, March 15th at 7:30 pm. The group — winners of multiple Voice Festival UK championships in 2014 and semi-finalists on Britain’s Got Talent who set the internet on fire with their all-vocal versions of “Hips Don’t Lie” and “All I Want for Christmas is You” – is on a tour of the U.S.  Tickets for the New Rochelle performance cost $15 and are available at the door or in advance from www.nredfund.org. The performance is being sponsored by the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence and the New Rochelle Council on the Arts.

Out Of The Blue comes to the U.S. from Oxford University. This student-run all-male a cappella group, founded in 2000, sings an eclectic mix of songs, focusing on covers of modern rock and pop hits. A sensation in England, they have toured the UK and the U.S. and in 2011 they were semi-finalists on the popular TV show Britain’s Got Talent. OOTB have won numerous competitions and to date have produced 14 studio albums, three live albums and one compilation album. As part of their mission they regularly donate and create charity singles to benefit Helen & Douglas House, the world’s first children’s hospice. OOTB is made up of students from Oxford and Oxford Brooke universities with a roster that changes every year; members are all accomplished in both academics and music. With millions of fans — their viral video “Hips Don’t Lie” had more than five million views and got a Tweet from Shakira herself —  there is no doubt that a cappella is hot! The New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence was established in 1998 in a cooperative effort by the Superintendent of Schools, members of the Board of Education and community leaders to preserve the New Rochelle tradition of excellence in education. www.nredfund.org (914) 576-4657.  The New Rochelle Council on the Arts was created by the New Rochelle City Council in 1975 to stimulate and encourage the study and presentation of the performing and fine arts; for 40 years NRCA has worked to fulfill that mission by sponsoring art exhibitions, theatrical productions, dance recitals, film screenings, lectures, and concert series. In addition, NRCA has sponsored public art and helped build relationships between the arts, the business community and city government.
