Ndiphilela Ukucula: I Live to Sing


Thesele Kemane and two other young opera singers from South Africa’s black townships are excelling at the at the once all-white University of Cape Town Opera School. Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Julie Cohen (The Sturgeon Queens) follows these marvelously talented young singers, witnessing their struggles, both public and private, nearly two decades after the end of apartheid. This moving documentary explores the power of art to change perceptions and transform lives.
