Brazilian Music Performed by Kristen Mather de Andrade and Her “Little Big Band”

“Eclectic and engaging, Kristen Mather de Andrade is an artist to be on the lookout for.”

Modern Mystery Blog

Join clarinetist/vocalist Kristen Mather de Andrade and her little big band as they play music from her debut Brazilian music album “Clarão,” and some classics from the Brazilian repertoire. Described as “a street festival of fun” by Jazz Weekly, this show will transport you to another place and make you want to move!

Kristen will be joined by a full horn section in addition to her frequent collaborators, the great Brazilian musicians César Garabini (7-string guitar) and Eduardo Belo (double bass), both of whom performed on her critically-acclaimed album “Clarão.” Listen to selections from “Clarão” here: https://kristenmather.com/track/2776648/um-chorinho-diferente; https://kristenmather.com/track/2776671/sagrado; https://kristenmather.com/track/2916982/doce-melodia; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tszYJt-K7_Q.

Eclectic virtuoso Kristen Mather de Andrade has been a member of the prestigious West Point Concert Band since 2007 and the Band’s principal clarinetist and soloist since 2012.  Additionally, Kristen is the clarinetist, co-founder and artistic director of Vent Nouveau, a New York City ensemble that performs and records material exclusively for winds and brass, as well as the West Point Band’s one-of-a-kind ensemble, Quintette 7. She became interested in Brazilian music and culture when she met her husband in 2011, and her album “Clarão,” has received accolades both in the U.S. and in Brazil for its authenticity, creativity, and virtuosity. A soulful singer as well, Kristen’s vocal stylings have been hailed as “just as powerful as her clarinet.” (Independent Artist Buzz)
