Mala Waldron Ensemble

On Friday, October 17th Roscoe’s Room welcomes back the Mala Waldron Ensemble as part of the Hot Pink Jazz Series. Vocalist, pianist and songwriter Mala Waldron has been performing professionally since the age of 15 —  no surprise, perhaps, when you consider that she’s the daughter of renowned jazz pianist/composer Mal Waldron, and had Billie Holiday as her Godmother. Mala has performed all over the world, from Europe to the far east, and has participated in numerous jazz festivals. Ernest Barteldes, writing in All About Jazz, notes “When you hear Mala Waldron’s soulful voice…you realize that you are experiencing something very special, for Waldron is not only an accomplished vocalist and songwriter, but also a fine pianist who hits the keys with great precision, bringing various musical influences into the jazz realm.” Her band includes Steve Salerno on guitar, Michael T.A. Thompson on percussion and Mimi Jones (aka Miriam Sullivan) on bass. $10 cover charge, two drink minimum. There will be two seatings, 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm; please reserve in the main dining room before or after the show if you plan to order a meal.

The Hot Pink Jazz Series is presented by Alvin and Friends, in cooperation with Lewis and Kirk Music, to bring awareness to breast cancer issues and contribute much-needed funds to assist the work of a local non-profit cancer agency, Support Connection. The Hot Pink Jazz Series is sponsored by Prudential Financial, American Legacy XL, Chris Edwards Marketing, LLC and Sadhana Tea House
