Madness & Nudity: Women in Art

Madness & Nudity: Women in Art is a program of music and spoken-word performance art, hosted by Talking Arts Foundation at their unique site in Yorktown Heights, with profits going to support the foundation.

The musicians of SKIN AGAINST METAL — Nanette Garcia and Maurice Minichino — are known for their innovative and experimental approaches to composition and performance.   For this program, they have created new works that address the challenges faced by women artists, exposing the struggles that plague those women who dare to express themselves freely.

Marcy B. Freedman is an artist and art historian who will give voice to a diverse spectrum of women who have appeared nude in sculpture, painting, photography, and performance art from the pre-historic to modern times.  Using her knowledge of art history AND her imagination, Freedman has developed a compelling “personal statement” for each of the women featured in her monologue.

Suggested donation: $20 per person
