Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Jun Jun and Liberation Day, is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. In 2021 it will be recognized as an official New York State holiday. Join us as we come together to celebrate this historic and momentous occasion and kick off a month-long series of Juneteenth activities around Westchester and Rockland Counties!

This program is free and will be live streamed on ArtsWestchester’s Facebook page. You can also register and watch on ZOOM.

  • A keynote lecture by Civil Rights Scholar and Public Historian, Dr. Larry H. Spruill
  • Music and Dance performances by Ray Blue, Samara Joy, The Mount Olivet Praise Singers, Prestige Step, The Ptah-Shabazz Wisdrum Orchestra, and Rocky Middleton
  • Presentations about upcoming local Juneteenth celebrations.
