Inspired: Masters and Students Gallery Exhibit and Opening Reception


In The Rye Arts Center Gallery – September 9 – 12, 2015

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 10, 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Inspired: Masters and Students features paintings by master artists – including Ouattara Watts and Bradley Theodore – along with works by the Young Men of the Youth Shelter Program of Westchester.

Curated by Omo Misha this exhibition highlights the raw talent and vibrant spirits of the young men in tandem with works from some of our most celebrated contemporary and historic artists.

The student works were created during a series of workshops led by Ouattara Watts at four art centers throughout the county: The Pelham Arts Center, ArtsWestchester, The Katonah Museum of Art, and The Rye Arts Center.

Master Artists: Charles Alston, Phillip Hampton, Bill Hutson,Joe Overstreet, Faith Ringgold, Bradley Theodore, Bob Thompson, Ouattara Watts, and Hale Woodruff.

Join us on September 10 to meet the artists and learn about their participation in this amazing project that embraces the transformative and inspirational power of art.

About the Youth Shelter Program of Westchester:

Youth Shelter Program of Westchester (YSOW) is a not-for-profit residential alternative to incarceration for young men located in Mount Vernon, since 1975. YSOW has provided hundreds of Westchester county youth offenders with a positive alternative to the court and prison systems. YSOW offers a job-readiness program, on-site educational and clinical services to its residents.
