Hudson Valley Music Club April Mostly Morning Concert


On Tuesday, April 14, at 11:00 AM. the Hudson Valley Music Club Mostly Morning Series will present a concert of harp and violin music.

Joy Plaisted, harp, will perform Minuetto by Quantz on a Therapy Harp. she will perform other works on a concert harp, including Chanson dans la Nuit by Salzedo.

Sylvia Danburg Volpe, violin, will perform a sonata by Debussy, a romance by Dvorak, and a transcription from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. Ms. Volpe, a native of Houston, Texas, studied at Rice University’s Sheperd School of Music and completed her degree at Juilliard with Glenn Dicterow, concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic. She made her Alice Tully Hall debut in 1995 playing Mario Davidovsky’s “Concertino for Solo Violin and Orchestra”, which was praised by the New York Times for “both lyricism and virtuosity”. She has worked with artists as diverse as Bono and Ornette Coleman, and played a wide spectrum of modern, jazz and classical chamber music both here and abroad. Sylvia has held the position of Associate Principal Second Violin with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra since the year 2000, and frequently appears with The Met Chamber Players in concert at Carnegie’s Weill and Zankel Halls.
