ANNOUNCES THE 2016 STUDENT AWARDS COMPETITION
TO BE HELD ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2016 (tentative snow date: March 6, 2016)
AT THE DOBBS FERRY WOMAN’S CLUB

Four winners will be selected at the Hudson Valley Music Club Student Awards Competition. The winners will perform at a public concert sponsored by the Hudson Valley Music Club on Monday, April 18, 2016， at 1:00 pm at the Dobbs Ferry Woman’s Club.
Eligibility:
– High school students residing in or attending a school in Westchester County.
– Solo performers (instrumental and vocal) or chamber ensembles (including vocal groups) with up to six musicians.
– A student may send in 2 applications, one as a solo performer and one as a member of a chamber ensemble. However, a student who was a previous winner in either category (regardless of instrument or group) is not eligible to audition again in the same category.
Audition requirements: 10 to 15 minutes in duration to include one work or several short works from the classical music repertoire. If selected as a winner, the student or group will perform the same program for the Hudson Valley Music Club Student Awards Concert.
Auditions:
– Auditions will be scheduled at 15-minute intervals, starting at noon.
– Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The first 20 applicants will be notified of an audition time after receipt of an application form and the application fee. Waitlisted applicants will also be notified.
Dates: February 1, 2016 Postmark deadline for application and fee
February 28, 2016 Auditions

April 18, 2016 Awards Concert at 1:00 pm
Winners: Each winner will receive publicity and a cash award. The cash award for a chamber group will be the same as that for a soloist and will be shared equally by all members of the group.
Piano accompanist: If a piece has piano accompaniment, an accompanist must be provided by the student. Although the piano accompanist will not be judged, his/her playing will have an impact on the musical presentation of the student’s audition. Therefore, please give careful consideration to the choice of accompanist. The same accompanist must play at the Awards Concert.
