Hoff-Barthelson Music School HB Artist Series presents The Oracle Trio

HBMS Faculty Members April Johnson, violin and Peter Seidenberg, cello perform a program of chamber music with Kate Boyd, piano

The Oracle Trio – violinist April Johnson and cellist Peter Seidenberg, both members of the Hoff-Barthelson Faculty – join forces with pianist Kate Boyd for the 2015-2016 Hoff-Barthelson Music School HB Artist Series on Sunday, March 20, at 5:00 p.m. at the Greenville Community Church, 270 Ardsley Road, Scarsdale.

The Trio will perform a program of chamber music that includes David Macdonald’s Four Pieces for Violin, Cello and Piano; Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Trio élégiaque in G minor, No. 1; Toru Takemitsu’s Between Tides; and the Finale – Allegro assai appassionato from Felix Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 49.

Admission to the recital is $18, $15 for seniors (65+) and free of charge to HBMS students and students 18 years of age and younger. Tickets to a series of three recitals are available at a reduced rate. Tickets can be ordered any time by calling 914-723-1169 or emailing hb@hbms.org and are available for purchase at the door. About The Oracle Trio:
Founded in 2005, The Oracle Trio is committed to performing celebrated classics of the chamber music repertoire as well as music of our time. The Oracle Trio has been a featured ensemble at the Heidelberg New Music Festival, the Ohio and Indiana Music Teachers’ Association state conferences, and on concert series at numerous universities and music schools. The Trio has performed works by a number of living composers, including Pulitzer-Prize winning composer Samuel Adler, Marc Mellits, Douglas McConnell, and Daniel Koontz.

With a strong belief in the importance of introducing music to young people, the three versatile members of The Oracle Trio are committed to teaching. Oracle has given numerous performances and workshops in children’s hospitals and educational institutions, where they have witnessed the transformative power of music.

The Trio’s members are April Johnson, violin, Peter Seidenberg, cello and Kate Boyd, piano. Ms. Johnson and Mr. Seidenberg are both members of the Hoff-Barthelson Music School faculty.
