Harrison Public Library Presents “Sing me a Smile, People, and Places” by Sherri Paul

Exhibition is on display November 6 to December 2, 2022.
Gallery is open to the public during regular library hours.
About the Artist:
Sherri Paul, an award-winning artist, works out of her studio in Rye, NY. At Penn State, Sherri studied under acclaimed graphic artist Harold Altman, and then received an advanced degree at Lehman College. Her New York paintings explore a world of unlimited possibilities and include everyday life , above and below ground. These cityscapes and portraits capture the color, light and moods of the city’s inhabitants in a snapshot quality and with quirky good humor. In a review in Gallery & Studio, Maureen Flyn wrote that Sherri Paul’s paintings “resonate poignantly in compositions as notable for their abstract virtues as their skilled realism.” In her landscapes and seascapes, Sherri employs softly diffused hues to imbue the romantic oils with atmospheric charm. Sherri is a member of The Mamaroneck Artists Guild, The New Rochelle Art Association and The Art Society of Old Greenwich.  Her paintings are in numerous private and public collections.
Artist’s Statement:
My art is figurative and derives from a natural source. Shape, color, light and dark elements contribute to the telling of the painting’s story. The chosen subjects speak to the viewer. I try to capture the essence of a moment in time. I let the viewer guess. What happened before or after the time portrayed in the painting? Whether it’s a portrait, and landscape or urban realism, I hope the viewer enjoys the story told.
